Community + Environment + the Rail Trail

Community & environment

The country of the Northern Rivers and the institutions that hold the region together sit in this section: the local organisations and Landcare groups, the riparian and climate-adaptation work, and the environment of a subtropical catchment. It is where the rivers themselves, and the land they gather from, are the subject.

The staged Northern Rivers Rail Trail is a running story of its own: a live infrastructure-and-tourism project opening section by section, from the Murwillumbah to Crabbes Creek and Casino to Lismore stretches already open toward the wider route planned across the region. We track its usage, its economic impact and its next-stage funding from the project's own record.
